Mentor Types Role
Faculty
  • Provide academic advising
  • Discuss and plan student career-related interests and major
  • Track academic performance and class attendance
  • Monitor early warning system for students having academic difficulties
  • Provide mentoring to assigned “house”
  • Complete an evaluation of your experience as a mentor
  • Staff
  • Serve as a concierge - assisting students in navigating higher education bureaucracies with financial aid, registration, etc.
  • Serve as an extended family
  • Provide mentoring to the assigned “house” and directly mentor 2 first-time and full-time (FTFT) freshmen students
  • Complete an evaluation of your experience as a mentor
  • 2 Upper Level Students
  • Encourage students to get involve with campus activities and student organizations
  • Tutor students
  • Share social and academic life experiences (successes and failures) with students
  • Provide mentoring to assigned “house” and directly mentor 2 FTFT freshmen students
  • Complete an evaluation of your experience as a mentor
  • Alumni
  • Support students in defining and implementing their career goals
  • Provide resources that support students in identifying internship, volunteer work, experiential learning, service learning or employment opportunities
  • Coordinate opportunities to bring other alumni from different careers to conduct student group discussions about their careers and how they got to where they are
  • Provide mentoring to assigned “house” and directly mentor 2 FTFT freshmen students
  • Complete an evaluation of your experience as a mentor
  • Faith-based
  • Provide emotional and spiritual support
  • Help direct students to appropriate community help when needed
  • Serve as extended family support
  • Provide mentoring to assigned “house” and directly mentor 2 FTFT freshmen students
